MP transfere o Coaf para o Ministério da Fazenda

O Coaf produz informações para prevenir e combater a lavagem de dinheiro no país.

O presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva publicou no Diário Oficial da União desta segunda-feira (2), a Medida Provisória 1.154/2023 que transfere o Conselho de Controle de Atividades Financeiras (Coaf) para o Ministério da Fazenda.

No início do governo Jair Bolsonaro, o Coaf tinha saído da Fazenda e ido para o Ministério da Justiça, então comandado pelo ex-juiz Sergio Moro.

Depois, o conselho voltou para a Economia, sob comando do ministro Paulo Guedes e, por fim, ficou sob responsabilidade do Banco Central.

Com a medida, a autoridade monetária articula um Projeto de Lei que cria um órgão independente para acompanhar movimentações financeiras que possam vir a ser investigadas.

Coaf

O Conselho de Controle de Atividades Financeiras é uma unidade de inteligência financeira do governo federal.

Entre as atribuições do Coaf está a de produzir informações para prevenir e combater a lavagem de dinheiro, aplicando penas administrativas a entidades do sistema financeiro que não enviarem os dados necessários para esse trabalho de inteligência.
